Welcome to New Delhi – the capital city of India, home to approximately 20 million inhabitants! The city is divided into two parts including Old Delhi, located near the river Yamuna, and New Delhi, home to the national government, the imperial city created by the British Raj. This city is a fusion of the ancient and the modern and paints a perfect picture rich with culture, architecture, human diversity, deep in history, monuments, museums, galleries, and gardens.

Upon arrival in Delhi, our representative will meet and greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to allow you to settle into your new home away from home experience.

DAY TWO

Begin your morning at your own pace, allowing yourself to acclimate to your new environment and overcome any jet lag effects.

Later in the morning, prepare to dive headfirst into the captivating history of Old Delhi with a private guided walking tour. Delve deep into India’s past as you traverse the bustling streets and narrow lanes steeped in centuries of tales and customs. Wander through intricate alleyways, immersing yourself in the rhythm of daily life against the backdrop of bygone eras.

Explore vibrant markets such as Kinari Bazaar, where glimpses of Indian celebrations await. Uncover the Silver District, where artisans showcase their masterpieces. Take a moment to admire the intricate havelis (traditional Indian mansions) nestled in serene corners, each with its own narrative. 

Don’t miss the chance to explore the aromatic spice market, where exotic scents offer a tantalizing glimpse into India’s culinary traditions. With every step, uncover a new facet of this historic city, from its fragrant spice markets to its ancient temples.

Afterward, hop on a cycle rickshaw towards Jama Masjid (India’s largest mosque), also known as the “Friday Mosque.” Situated amidst the labyrinthine medieval streets of Old Delhi, this majestic mosque, commissioned by Shah Jahan, showcases a harmonious fusion of Mughal and Persian architectural styles. Take your time to wander through its expansive courtyard, marveling at the intricate craftsmanship.

Next, visit the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, one of the most prominent Sikh temples. Known forits commitment to seva (selfless service), this sacred place feeds over 10,000 people daily, regardless of their caste, creed, color, or religion. In addition to its charitable efforts, the temple organizes various socio-philanthropic activities. Its serene and picturesque surroundings offer the perfect ambiance for tranquility, relaxation, and contemplation. Engage yourself in the spirit of community service at the community kitchen or Langar at Bangla Sahib. You can choose from the below volunteering opportunities:

– Making roti (Indian bread)

As you cook with the chefs in the kitchen you will know about their daily routine, tradition, and culture. You may go in expecting to fill one empty stomach and come out having helped fill so many more. It is an enriching experience like no other!

DAY THREE

Start your day with a rejuvenating yoga session that embodies the ancient practice promoting physical and mental well-being. 

After breakfast at the hotel, discover New Delhi, a city meticulously planned by the British in the 1920s. Its wide, tree-lined streets showcase colonial government edifices. Drive along Rajpath, the ceremonial avenue, to glimpse landmarks like the majestic India Gate and Parliament House.narrative.

Later, visit the Gandhi Museum, which showcases the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation who led the nation against British colonial rule. (Closed on Mondays)  

Explore Humayun’s Tomb, constructed by Mughal Emperor Humayun’s wife, Haji Begum, in the 16th century. It’s a prime example of Mughal architecture, often regarded as Taj Mahal’s predecessor.

Next, explore the iconic Qutab Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in 1199 by Qutbuddin as a symbol of victory over a Rajput King, it stands as a prime example of Indian-Islamic architecture. 

Indulge in an evening session with a Local Yoga expert over Hi-tea, exploring the depths of ancient practices while gaining invaluable insights into holistic well-being and spiritual alignment. This morning, participate in a yoga and meditation session at the hotel.Afterward, proceed to the airport to catch the flight to Varanasi. Upon arrival, drive to Allahabad (formerly known as Prayagraj), a journey that will immerse you in the natural beauty of the region. On arrival, take some time to rest and freshen up. 

In the evening, attend a brief orientation about the Kumbh Mela, its significance and the upcoming schedule of events. Thereafter, get ready for the auspicious ‘Aarti’ ceremony at the campsite. ‘Aarti’ is a traditional Hindu ritual where lamps are offered to the deities along with devotional chants and hymns. It is truly a spiritual experience that provides insight into the local culture and traditions. Participating in this pious tradition, you will witness the offering of lamps to the deities accompanied by resounding devotional chants and hymns.

DAY FIVE

13 Jan 2025

Allahabad: Kumbh Mela 

Morning, engage in a session of yoga and deep breathing exercises, accompanied by the soothing sounds of temple bells resonating from the distant “Kumbh City.” As you start your day, savor a cup of tea and cookies that awaken your senses. 

Later, walk to the ‘Akharas’ centers of spiritual practice and growth. Among them, the renowned Juna Akhara stands out, home to a sizable community of ascetics, including Naga Babas. These revered individuals play a pivotal role in the Kumbh Mela, participating in bathing rituals while adorned in ashes and often naked. Their presence reflects deep-rooted spirituality and cultural significance. As you walk amidst these sacred spaces, you’ll witness the devotion and traditions that define these holy men, gaining i sight into their unique way of life and their essential role in this grand event. 

The afternoon is leisure, providing an opportunity to relax and enjoy the comforts of the camp. In the evening, engage in an enlightening discussion on religion and mythology with experts. This interactive session is followed by a delightful vegetarian dinner.

DAY SIX

14 Jan 2025 (Bathing Date)

Allahabad: Kumbh Mela

Begin the day with a refreshing yoga and meditation session. 

After having breakfast, get ready for an enchanting adventure with an exclusive boat ride to the sacred Sangam (meeting point) for a special view of the Kumbh Mela. Witness devotees on the riverbanks engaged in various rituals and the courageous dip in the cold waters. 

Later, venture to iconic sites like the Mankameshwar Templededicated to Lord Shiva, where wishes are believed to be granted. Explore the revered Saraswati Ghat, a renowned bathing spot, and visit the unique Alopi Temple, where a wooden carriage is venerated in lieu of a deity statue. 

The afternoon offers free time to discover the camp’s surroundings or opt for a half-day excursion within Allahabad, including an auspicious Puja.

DAY SEVEN

Start your day with a revitalizing yoga and meditation session

Afterward bid farewell to the spirit of Kumbh tour and drive to Varanasi. The land of Varanasi (Kashi) has been the ultimate pilgrimage spot for Hindus for ages. Formerly known as Benares, Varanasi is the oldest living city in the world. Hindus believe that one who is graced to die on the land of Varanasi will attain salvation and freedom from the cycle of birth and re-birth. 

Enroute, visit Sarnath, an ancient Buddhist site near Varanasi. See the Dhamek Stupa, where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon, and the Ashoka Pillar, a symbol of Emperor Ashoka’s embrace of Buddhism. Explore the Sarnath Archaeological Museum, showcasing Buddhist artifacts and relics, offering insight into the region’s rich history and the spread of Buddhism. (Sarnath Museum closed on Fridays) 

In the evening, join your guide for a walk through the oldest and most famous narrow and winding lanes of the city, past the endless human panorama – pilgrims, worshipers, sadhus, children selling flowers, and floating lights to place in the river. Arrive at the ghats at the Ganges to witness the Aarti Ceremony which is part of the evening puja or prayers. During the ceremony deewas (oil lamps) are offered to Mother Ganges with thanks and devotion for the light of the sun and for her divine light. As the Aarti fire ceremonies take place, bells are rung and chanting and singing provide a fascinating, magical, and spiritual conclusion to the day’s end.

DAY EIGHT

Early this morning, participating in a sunrise yoga session by the river Ganges is serene and transformative. With the sun casting a golden
glow upon the tranquil waters, practitioners find deep introspection and spiritual connection. The rhythmic flow of the river enhances the practice, fostering harmony with nature. Set against ancient ghats, this experience offers a journey of self-discovery and rejuvenation.

Afterwards, we’ll take a boat ride on the river Ganges, fully experiencing its incredible beauty. This experience is deep because it shows how life and death come together. Along the two kilometers of bathing ghats, we’ll observe pilgrims seeking spiritual salvation and cleansing, their strong faith evident as they bathe in the holy waters. Amidst the lively pilgrimage atmosphere, the Ganga Ghats represent the enduring significance of life and spirituality, reminding us of the eternal cycle we’re all part of. 

After the boat ride, take a Spiritual walking tour through the winding lanes and delve into the ghats (steps leading to the river) of Varanasi. Varanasi isn’t merely a tourist destination; it’s a cultural hub where every facet of spirituality thrives.
